The boards of directors of UJA-Federation agencies need a “braintrust” of management talent in finance, strategic planning, real estate, human resources, marketing and more to face today’s challenges. The Agency Board Referral Service helps (1) network agencies find needed board members and (2) individuals interested in board service to find placement on a board that needs their expertise. Placement of qualified candidates is by mutual agreement of all parties. Its Observership Program provides an opportunity to individuals between the ages of 28 and 35 to participate on an agency board of directors as a nonvoting observer. This program includes training components and is designed to prepare young Jewish professionals for future leadership positions. UJA-Jewish Federation of New York also offers board consulting and board training to its network agencies.
