Volunteer Trustees is a national organization of not for profit hospital and health system governing boards. The organization was founded in 1980 to give voice to the trustees of America’s voluntary health care system and is dedicated to preserving and furthering the not for profit healthcare sector. Volunteer Trustees provides the only national forum run by trustees for trustee to trustee exchange, discussion, and education. Volunteer Trustees Foundation for Research and Education was created in 1986 to support the research and educational activities of the Association. It has conducted research on a variety of issues and has hosted numerous educational forums. Volunteeer Trustees provides a platform from which not for profit health care trustees can influence policy at all levels of government. It holds an annual National Trustee Conference.
